In 2014, Ethan began to suspect his wife was lying to him. A confrontation regarding these suspicions did not gain traction. Sometime following their argument, Mia told Ethan she took a "babysitting job" on a cruise. She did not return home from this trip. In October of that year, Ethan filed a missing persons report for his wife; it was not until July 2017 that he saw his wife again, locked up in the basement of the Baker family's home.

What lead him to that point is a series of stubborn errors: Rather than contacting the police with the mysterious email from his wife's mail address, Ethan opted to investigate the questionable tip on his own. Instead of turning tail when confronted with all the warning signs outside the Baker property, Ethan jumped deeper into the woods surrounding their farm. Stubborn, distrustful, but deeply keen to keep others safe, Ethan is a normal man in wildly abnormal circumstances trying to keep it all together. Following the Dulvey incident, he lives with a heavy paranoia: Fearful of "them", Ethan takes military training through the Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance (BSAA), all while his wife calls him paranoid. resident evil 8 spoilers
towards the end of resident evil 8, ethan and the audience come to learn that he died in the bakers' farm when jack crushed his head. it is not clear exactly why ethan was re-animated rather than simply dying; whether some part of his biology responded to the virus strangely or he truly was just too angry to die is unknown. what we do know is that ethan is essentially a bioweapon now. rather than giving him the ability to manipulate mold, though, he's sunk all his stat points into CON— he's essentially a tank. this does not mean he can't die, but it seems like removing his heart is the only way to do away with the guy at this point in time. and even then, ethan can persist for a time without it.

by default, i play ethan as unaware of his status as a BOW. if you want to play around with this (and trust me, i would love to!), please just give me a shout. i'm happy to plot with you.

VISUAL. x. 5'11", 170lbs of pure systems engineer. looks like he listens to tool. okay, okay i guess i should end the joke. Ethan is a thirty-something year old man with sandy blond hair he keeps trim; his eyes are hazel. Although he has a strong, athletic figure, you'd be unlikely to know it as he tends to keep a slightly bent form. When it comes to fashion, Ethan favors comfortable business casual: He may wear brogues with everything, but he likes his hoodies and loose fitting work pants just as much.

DEMEANOR. ultra dad with a potty mouth. ethan is easy-going, mild-mannered, incredibly average by all stretches of imagination. he's also stupid and likely to do the most dramatic option in a high stress situation.

AURAL. x. todd soley gives ethan a medium, easily panicked tone that drips sarcasm. he's just some guy you'd bump into at the supermarket
